Ive read quite a few Choice games and even some from other companies, and I can say confiently that Choice of Magics is by far the best one I have ever played. I don't have all the achievments yet, but every playthrough I have seen something new and had a nice time. Even dying in new ways has been entertaining.I really love this game and believe anyone looking through the reviews needing an excuse or reason to buy this game/story, this is it. Please get this game. You wont regret it. <3. So this was a bit of an experiment buying this game(?), I didn't know what to expect and as far as this kind of game goes I loved it. I played through it once, it took me roughly 4 hours in all.The story was really interesting, I liked a lot of the characters and settings. I thought the choices on the whole were also very contrasting and diverse so I am looking forward to playing through again.My criticisms are; from the start my character is already formed, I am a female character and so the choices flow from that but the game allows you to choose pronouns of your choice, which I thought meant I could change the sex of the character but the continuity in the story faultered, sometimes I was called a wizard and other times a witch, I was so confused in the story as to what sex I was it broke the immersion of the story. I couldn't careless about it other than I wished that the choices I had made were continued correctly through the story.There were many sub plots in the story that went no-where and ended suddenly, which left me feeling "so what was the point in that", there weren't even choices later on that came from them, they were just things that happened.I think this type of story telling is brilliant, the choices had consequences and there was enough choice to make them insteresting. My only true wish was that the story was longer and every bit of it more fleshed out.What was the point of the pets?I felt the out come of some of the choices like the killing of the 12 legged beast were unfair as information was with held?I turned a guy into a giant tortoise which I met later but nothing ever came of it?Sam was supposedly an important character but it never felt like that?I killed the heirophant and the one that took over apparently really liked me but nothing ever happened?I got loads of gold after I couldn't buy any more stuff - why?The bit with the neighbours was over very quickly and made little to no sense?- Why didn't Tal come back for me?- How exactly did I get away?*I'm sure there's more but that's off the top of my head*[/spoilers]. This was ♥♥♥♥ing hilarious.. Didn't expect to like this, but booy this is an amazing game to play. The story, the stats, items, all it's getting along awesome. I love this game so far and I recomend it.. This is one of my favorite Choice of Games. It's epic fantasy that takes you through a fantastic adventure and gives you plenty of choices. Somebody here commented that it's as close to a tabletop D&D adventure as you're going to get and in a funny way I would agree. You have magic skills that you get to effectively put points into and the choices you make drastically change the story. You can have pets, followers, lovers. I don't think my play time on here is accurate. After I finished it, I went back through and played it a second time making different decisions. I was actually able to say in my head "Ok this is the type of character I am so these are the types of choices I would make" and I was amazed at how well it played out. The ending I got to the second time was even more satisfying than my first play through.In some spots the pacing felt a little forced. If you're not interested in playing a mage you do have some other options but ultimately this is a game about magic. There are many secrets and a lot of lore to unlock and your choices may come back to bite you later. I think the quality of the writing in this novel surpasses what I would expect from a Choice of Games. I am a fan of Choice games and I don't mean that to put down their catalogue. What I mean is that Kevin Gold could have just as easily published this as a fantasy epic and I think this game is a good jump in point for people who are unsure about this type of game. The scope of what is offered here is greater than the niche it's found in.Definitely get it!. The second CYOA by Kevin Gold, it has less broadside choices than Choice of robots and is more story-focused with deeper characters.Damn, I can't find anything else to say. This guy just produce perfectly balanced works and finely written words there is just no so much to say except go for it and read it if you like wizard focused story with different branches of magic and some church related storyline.The ending felt satisfying and the developpment of the main character goes through different stages and chapter and each one is interesting. No obvious flaws here. So that's it. Some smart writing yet again by Kevin Gold even though the genre is completely different than Choice of robots. Bravo. This author is really someone to follow.. Really liked the story and the choices. Played once as a good guy and my last playthrough as an evil kill-everything mage.. One of the best "choice of" games I've played. Definitely worth a shot.. Better than Choice of Robots. I didn't think it possible
